Offsite Education Experiences
Taronga Zoo
The St George Zoomobile is one of two Zoomobiles that operate out of Taronga Zoo as part of it’s outreach program. This Zoomobile provides an educational experience for a vast array of groups, including preschools, childcare centres, aged care facilities and council events, from both Sydney metropolitan and NSW regional areas. The aim of the program is to inspire and educate the audience about native animals through an entertaining and hands-on experience that encourages action in the conservation of our country’s biodiversity.
Animals that are available on this program include:

- Tawny Frogmouth
- Galah
- Diamond Python
- Carpet Python
- Shingleback Lizard
- Blue Tongue Lizard
- Bearded Dragon
- Ringtail Possum
- Short-beaked Echidna
- Long Nosed Bandicoot
- Grey-headed Flying Fox
- Saltwater Crocodile
- Phasmid (Spiny Leaf Insect)
- Green Tree Frog
Workshops for all ages, from childcare and preschools to tertiary institutions and nursing homes. This program also visits council events for all ages.
45 minutes to one hour.
Minimum AUD$220.00 per visit (add an additional $4.40 per participant for group sizes of 51 and over).
This program (including vehicle lease) is currently sponsored by St George Bank. All set up costs (including graphics, animal transport equipment, van fit out) approx. $5,000. Additional costs included displays ($7000) and costumes ($3000).
