Yanchep National Park
The students join a Nyoongar presenter for an informative walk through nature’s pantry identifying traditional foods of the Nyoongar people. By participating in this activity students will be shown some of the many resources that surround them. The use of these resources will also be compared to their own daily lives to show comparisons. By watching for changes in the environment Nyoongars could tell what season it was and where they should be for the best food resources. Some of these signs will be pointed out during the activity. By knowing each of the six seasons, Nyoongars would know when to move to other areas to allow for regeneration and the renewal of resources. Conservation of the environment was up most importance and it is hoped that we will instil some of these considerations to our next generation.
