TAG Convenor: Russel Traher, Healesville Sanctuary
Amphibians are ectothemic (cold-blooded) vertebrates, such as frogs, toads, salamanders and newts. Amphibians begin life as an aquatic lava that metamorphosises into a terrestrial adult.
Reptiles are also ectothermic, but they have a scaly skin. They include the crocodiles, snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises and tuataras. Reptiles are typically terrestrial and lay eggs that are shelled.

The biggest issues for this TAG are:
- Reviewing TAG management of and attention to exotic species and those native species which are uncommon in collections – to ensure long-term sustainability of the captive populations.
- The Global Amphibian Crisis
- Regional involvement in conservation of Asian Freshwater Turtles
