The Australasian Primate TAG covers all taxa in the order Primates. Currently represented in the region, or in the plans of institutions in the region, are the following families:

Lemuridae - lemurs
- Loridae - lorises
- Callitrichidae - tamarins, marmosets
- Cebidae - spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, capuchins
- Cercopithecidae - guenons, macaques, baboons, leaf-monkeys
- Hylobatidae - gibbons
- Hominidae - great apes
Two of the biggest issues for this TAG are:
- Management of socially complex species
- Importation of unrelated founder animals into the Australasian captive population
