Individual Membership
The two types of individual membership are available:
Individuals employed by a zoo or aquarium
Interested Individuals, not employed by a zoo or aquarium
Full Individual Membership
Zoo and Aquarium Association offers the opportunity for individuals working in zoos and aquariums to help influence the future development of the industry, promote species conservation, and foster collaboration of the zoo and aquarium community through full individual membership.
Full Individual Membership offers the following benefits:
- Receive the quarterly Zoo and Aquarium Association Newsletter
- Receive 20% discount on all Association publications
- Are able to stand for election or appointment to any of Zoo and Aquarium Association’s committees and the Association's Board of Management
- Are able to vote on issues such as changes to the Association’s Code of Practice
 or various associated guidelines covering issues such as ethical animal transactions and animal management practices
- Are able to elect the Association’s Board of Management
- May join one or several of the Association's Specialist Advisory Groups
- Gain access to the Members Only section of the Zoo and Aquarium Association website, which includes:
- Specialist Advisory Group Resource Centres
- Access to species management documents, including studbooks, Annual Reports and Recommendations, TAG Action Plans etc.
- Vacant positions within the ASMP
- Employment opportunities in zoos and aquariums
- Zoo and Aquarium Association policies and guidelines
- Attend the Zoo and Aquarium Association Conference at a reduced price
- Receive free entry to most Zoo and Aquarium Association member institutions
To be eligible for Full Individual Membership you must be employed by a zoo or aquarium, and agree to the Zoo and Aquarium Association Code of Ethics .
Most Association member institutions offer free entry for Association Full Individual members.

Associate Individual Membership
Individuals who are not employed by a zoo and aquarium but are interested in the industry are invited to become Associate Individual members.
Associate Individual Membership offers the following benefits:
- Receive the quarterly Zoo and Aquarium Association Newsletter
- Receive 20% discount on all Association publications
- Gain access to the Members Services section of the Zoo and Aquarium Association web site, which includes:
- Specialist Advisory Group Resource Centres
- Access to species management documents, including studbooks, Annual Reports and Recommendations, TAG Action Plans etc.
- Vacant positions within the ASMP
- Employment opportunities in zoos and aquariums
- Zoo and Aquarium Association policies and guidelines
To be eligible for Associate Individual Membership you must agree to the Zoo and Aquarium Association Code of Ethics .
Annual Membership Fee: AUD$60 plus GST (Australian residents)
Annual Membership Fee: NZD$70 plus GST (New Zealand residents)
Annual Membership Fee: AUD$60plus GST (residents of other eligible countries)
All memberships are due for renewal 30 June.
Members joining between November to March pay half price, renew at 30 June after 3-8months.
Members joining between April to October pay full rate, renew 30 June after 9-14 months.
