The Australasian Regional Association of Zoological Parks and Aquaria 2009 Conference Committee is inviting the submission of paper and poster abstracts. The theme of the conference is “Are WE ready for XYZ?”. Below you will find a mind map that has pre-determined topics, however, prospective authors are not restricted to these topics exclusively and we invite additional thought-provoking topics to be included.  A larger version of the mind map can be viewed here.


Authors are urged to keep the theme in mind when considering submission of an abstract. The abstract should clearly outline the work that will be presented at the conference in 2009.  Abstracts must contain a maximum of 250 words. Papers will be of 10 minute duration with additional question time at the conclusion. Poster presentations will be of 4 minute duration.

Abstracts should be submitted via email if possible, to arazpa2009@wvtp.com.au. Those unable to submit via email can fax or alternatively post a CD-ROM plus hard copy to the Conference Organiser (address below). Authors are requested to provide a short personal profile (to be used as an introduction) when submitting their abstract. Personal profile should include the below information:

• Title of Presentation
• Type of Presentation
• Name
• Institution
• Position at institution
• Postal Address
• Email Address
• Title of Paper

Students are encouraged to submit abstracts for the ARAZPA Conference. A special daily rate will be available for full time students if their presentation is accepted by the paper selection committee. Please indicate clearly you are a student and submitting a conference abstract during the registration process. Students who wish to attend the entire conference need to pay full registration fees. Students will not be able to register for the conference until their abstract has been accepted.

The deadline for abstract submission will be close of business 14 November 2008. The paper selection committee in consultation with ARAZPA will review all submitted abstracts, and will advise all successful authors via email by 19 December 2008. Presenting authors of accepted abstracts are required to register for the conference.
