Often these institutions are zoos and aquariums in the early stages of development that are not yet open to the public, or other types of wildlife facilities not open to the public.
What they have in common with Full Institutional Members is a commitment to ARAZPA's ideals of conservation, education, research and to maintaining high standards in all aspects of their operations. All ARAZPA members agree to abide by common standards, and to operate within an agreed ethical framework. Associate Institutions receive similar benefits to Full Institutional members but are non-voting members of ARAZPA.

Contact the ARAZPA office and request an institutional membership application package.
With the recent launch of the ARAZPA Accreditation Program, all Full and Associate institutional members must now be accredited. As a result, the membership application process involves two steps.
The first step involves providing some background information on your institution and your application sufficient to allow a preliminary, desktop review. Your application should include:
- A completed Membership Questionnaire
- A signed commitment to abide by ARAZPA’s codes, policies and guidelines
- An indication of support for your application from two full institutional members
We also ask that you contact the relevant regulatory authority to request that licensing information be forwarded to ARAZPA.
At this stage, your application is reviewed by the Accreditation Committee and a decision on granting Provisional Associate Membership is made by the ARAZPA Board.
Provisional Associate Members have access to many of the benefits of ARAZPA membership, but are not yet able to participate in programs for priority species run under the Australasian Species Management Program.
The final step in gaining Associate ARAZPA membership involves a site visit by an ARAZPA accreditation team to assess the standards of operation at your institution against the ARAZPA General Standards and Guidelines ( 271 kb). This site visit will be organized, in consultation with you, as soon as possible after Provisional Associate Membership is granted. Following a successful accreditation assessment, your institution will be granted Associate membership status.
At this stage, you and your staff will have access to the full range of benefits afforded to ARAZPA associate members.
