Sea World, Gold Coast 22 - 26 March 2009
Dear Colleagues,
Greetings from the Gold Coast! It is an honour for Sea World to host ARAZPA Conference 2009.
Coinciding with the conference will be a three-day Aquarium Workshop. As the zoo industry has moved into the areas of water management with seals, elephants, hippos, otters etc. this forum will include workshops in the technologies of basic water treatment and testing, then move into more in depth life support systems, marine species sustainability issues and Grey Nurse Shark captive management, research and species survival both in our facilities and the wild.
The organising committee believe one of our main key roles in hosting the 2009 ARAZPA Conference is to challenge our delegates with a thought provoking, controversial and relevant theme that will instigate vigorous debate and prove valuable in planning the current and future direction of our changing industry. In this vein, we believe the theme will certainly reflect the issues that both the ARAZPA Board and delegates alike will need to address for the industry to proactively move forward. With this key objective in mind, speakers have been approached both nationally and internationally to contribute to this discussion.
Planning is well under way for another wonderful ARAZPA Conference. The organising committee will do everything they can to ensure that you not only participate in an outstanding conference, but that you experience a Sea World adventure that will leave a lasting impression.
I take great pleasure to extend this invitation to my peers and colleagues to join me at ARAZPA 2009.
See you at Sea World!
Yours sincerely,
Trevor Long Director Marine Sciences Warner Village Theme Parks
How do we reach Generations X, Y and Z? How do we engage this group which more than any other - is inundated with marketing and communications and highly skilled in filtering it? So how do we reach them, build awareness of the issues, change behaviour, pierce Generations XYZ’s veil of scepticism? How do we make sure our messages meet their filtering process and engage them in the cause?
Obviously, reaching XYZ requires unique strategies, tools and messages. So what will be the next steps, and direction for the future and future generations? We hope post ARAZPA Conference 2009 we will all be better equipped to start to answer these questions.
The ARAZPA 2009 Conference Committee is now inviting the submission of paper and poster abstracts. Click here for more information on submitting your abstract.
